Privacy Policy for WeightUp

WeightUp (“we,” “us,” or “our”) built the WeightUp mobile application (“App”) to help users track workouts, exercises, and fitness progress. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal information is handled responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our App or visit our website (collectively, “Services”).

By using our Services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any part of this Policy, please discontinue use of the Services.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information

Information that identifies you or can be used to contact or identify you, such as:

Email address (used for account creation and authentication)
User ID (automatically assigned in Firebase)
Subscription or purchase information (handled securely through RevenueCat and app stores)

We do not collect your name or address unless you voluntarily provide it for support.

1.2 Usage Data

Information automatically collected about your interaction with the App, such as:

Device information (model, operating system, app version)
App usage statistics (features accessed, timestamps, workout entries, crash logs)
Telemetry about Firestore reads (collection/document path, document counts, timing, cache status, and optional metadata)
Optional diagnostics (app uptime, file timestamps, available/total disk space, and related errors) when troubleshooting issues

These analytics events are forwarded to a WeightUp-operated endpoint configured through the environment variable EXPO_PUBLIC_ANALYTICS_ENDPOINT. Optional diagnostics are only transmitted when the feature flag EXPO_PUBLIC_ENABLE_PRIVACY_DIAGNOSTICS_ANALYTICS is enabled, and they do not include battery level readings. We do not send analytics events to Firebase Analytics.

1.3 Location Data

We do not collect or use location data.

1.4 Other Information You Provide

Any data you voluntarily submit, such as:

Feedback, support requests, or bug reports sent to our support email
Custom workouts, exercises, or fitness logs you create in the app

2. How We Use Your Information

Provide and maintain the WeightUp app and its features
Sync and back up your workouts securely through Firebase
Manage subscriptions and in-app purchases through RevenueCat
Improve app performance and user experience through analytics
Respond to support inquiries or technical issues
Send occasional updates or important notices (you can opt out of promotional messages)
Comply with legal obligations

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data in the following cases:

Service Providers: With trusted third parties who perform services for us, such as Firebase (authentication and data storage) and RevenueCat (subscription management). Analytics payloads are delivered to a WeightUp-controlled endpoint rather than a third-party analytics platform.
Legal Requirements: When required by law or to respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, provided that the receiving party agrees to maintain confidentiality.
With Your Consent: Any other sharing will only occur with your explicit consent.

4. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account or request deletion, your personal data and stored workouts will be permanently removed from Firebase within a reasonable time.

5. Security

We use Firebase Authentication, Firestore, and RevenueCat, which implement secure, industry-standard protections to safeguard your data. While we take these measures seriously, please note that no electronic storage system is completely secure.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your region (for example, under GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights such as:

Accessing or requesting a copy of your data
Correcting or deleting your data
Withdrawing consent for certain processing
Objecting to or limiting data use

You can exercise these rights by contacting us at support@weightup.app. You can also delete your account and related data directly in the app.

7. Children’s Privacy

WeightUp is not directed to children under 13 (or the age threshold in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app without parental consent, contact us so we can delete the account.

8. Third-Party Services

WeightUp integrates with trusted third-party services, including:

Firebase (Google LLC) – user authentication and data storage
RevenueCat – subscription and payment management

We run our own analytics collection endpoint, configured through EXPO_PUBLIC_ANALYTICS_ENDPOINT, so analytics payloads are not shared with additional analytics vendors. Optional diagnostics described above are only sent when EXPO_PUBLIC_ENABLE_PRIVACY_DIAGNOSTICS_ANALYTICS is enabled.

9. International Users

Your information may be processed and stored on servers located in various countries, including the United States. We take appropriate measures to ensure that your data is handled securely and in compliance with applicable laws.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. When we do, we will revise the “Effective Date” above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the app. Your continued use of WeightUp means you accept any changes.
