WeightUp ("we," "us," or "our") provides the WeightUp mobile application ("App") to help users log workouts, track strength progress, and manage fitness routines. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your information responsibly.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the App or visit our website (collectively, the "Services").

By using the Services, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information

We collect limited personal information only when necessary to provide the Service:

Email address
Used for account creation and authentication when a user chooses to sign in. If a user signs in, the email may be associated with analytics events for internal analysis and customer support.
User ID
A unique identifier generated by Firebase (anonymous or authenticated) and used to associate app data and analytics events.
Subscription status information
Managed securely through RevenueCat and the app stores. WeightUp does not store payment card details or full transaction records.

We do not collect names, physical addresses, or phone numbers unless voluntarily provided for support.

1.2 Usage and Fitness Data

We automatically collect information about how the App is used, including:

Device information
Device model, operating system version, and app version.
App usage data
Feature usage, navigation actions, timestamps, and crash diagnostics.
Fitness activity data
Workout completion events, exercise counts, set counts, durations, and progress tracking.
Interaction data
Button presses, goal creation actions, paywall views, and similar in-app interactions.

This data is collected using PostHog, a product analytics service used strictly for internal analytics, debugging, and improving app functionality. Analytics data may be associated with a user identifier (User ID and, if signed in, email address).

1.3 Location Data

WeightUp does not collect or use precise or approximate location data.

1.4 Information You Provide Voluntarily

You may choose to provide additional information, such as:

Feedback or support requests sent to our support email
Custom workouts, exercises, notes, or fitness logs created within the App

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

Provide and maintain the App and its core features
Securely sync and store workouts and progress through Firebase
Manage subscriptions and entitlements through RevenueCat
Analyze feature usage and app performance to improve stability and usability
Respond to support inquiries and technical issues
Send important service-related notices, such as account or subscription updates

WeightUp does not send marketing or promotional messages.

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We only share limited data in the following cases:

Service Providers

With trusted third parties that support the App’s functionality, including:

Firebase (Google LLC) - authentication and secure data storage
RevenueCat - subscription and entitlement management
PostHog - internal product analytics (non-advertising use only)

Legal Requirements

When required to comply with applicable laws or lawful government requests.

Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, provided confidentiality protections remain in place.

With Your Consent

If you explicitly consent to additional data sharing.

4. Data Retention

We retain data only as long as necessary to provide the Service:

Account data is retained while your account remains active.
When you delete your account, personal data and stored workouts are permanently removed from Firebase within a reasonable time.
Anonymous user data is stored under an anonymous identifier and may be lost if the App is deleted or app data is cleared.
Analytics data may be retained for a limited period for historical analysis but is dissociated from active user accounts where technically feasible after deletion.

5. Security

We use industry-standard security measures, including Firebase Authentication, Firestore, and RevenueCat, to protect user data. While we take strong precautions, no electronic storage method is completely secure.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location (for example, under GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to:

Access or request a copy of your data
Correct or delete your data
Withdraw consent where applicable
Object to or restrict certain processing

You can exercise these rights by contacting support@weightup.app or by deleting your account directly within the App.

7. Children’s Privacy

WeightUp is not intended for children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has used the App without consent, contact us and we will promptly delete the data.

8. Third-Party Services

WeightUp integrates with the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google LLC) - authentication and data storage
RevenueCat - subscription management
PostHog - internal product analytics

Each provider operates under its own privacy policy.

9. International Users

Your information may be processed and stored on servers located in different countries, including the United States. We apply appropriate safeguards to ensure lawful and secure handling of data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective Date" will be updated accordingly, and significant changes may be communicated within the App.
